Copy. Wellington 4th. August 1871. My dear SirWilliam, I need not say that I was much pleased to get the draft bill which you have so kindly prepared. I sent it at once to the printers in order that copies of it should be in the hands of my colleagues with a little delay as possible, and we all intend to devote full time to its consideration. I am glad to see that it is so much more concise and clear than Fenton's draft. The papers accompanying the bill are being printed at the same time and I hope to be able to send you some copies in a few days. It is really very kind of you to have taken so much pains and trouble with the bill. We are all busy preparing for the session, and as the Luna leaves presently I can add no more. I remain sd.
