Napier July 6th. 1866. My dear McLean, The Sturt is just in and I take the opportunity of sending you a line or two. Capt. Fairchild tells me that he is to return immediately from Wellington so that will answer very well although I thought was quite prepared to go at any moment. I dont suppose Col. Russell has any more instructions for me than those I have already had - so that it is not worth while writing to him. If there is anything Rolleston will let you know. I suppose the St. Kilda will be here in the course of a week. They would be all greatly surprised at the Chathams. Remember me to the Judge and Ferard and believe me ever Yours J.H. Campbell. I suppose you are in the thick of it by this time in the Assembly. I have had no reply yet from Rolleston about Spencer's pay. I shall probably hear by the Sturt. It is a great matter getting such a decent young fellow. I have got all the things for the Natives up the Coast.
