Paihia, Bay of Islands July 16, 1866 My dear Mr. Maclean, I am forwarding to you my official statement of the losses at Waerengaahika, exclusive of private property belonging to my son. Perhaps in strict propriety these statements should have gone to the Native Minister. If so will you have the kindness to present them for me. You will much oblige me by giving me a private communication about the probable course which will be taken by the Government, and the time when any steps will be taken. I remain, My dear Sir, Most faithfully yours, William Waiapu
