Meanee Nov. 19 (?) 1867 Sir, I have the honor to report that I attended office this day but was unable from the short stay of the trap - having found "even after your Honors directions" the Immigration Barracks and N. Hostelry still in the occupation of the My. settlers which required all my time - to make arrangements about clearing it out - to write to your Honor. I ascertained today that Col; Whitmore is most likely to be returned for the Wairoa. Mr. Richardson for several reasons as he told me withdrawn from the field. I also saw Mr. Lindsay and others and all "as a matter of course" are satisfied that every thing is going on satisfactorily and as your Honor would desire. I should have very much wished that your Honor had been at the Wairoa for no other reason than knowing your sensitive disposition for at an election there are sure to be some blackguard rascals who will be certain to make remarks - not derogatory to your Honors position but to your feelings. You will I hope be certain that nothing but severe sickness would retain me at home. Mr. J, A. Smith having expressed a determination of going home and from his prospective position as M. P. C. having desired to form an Immigration Agency at home - has damaged himself very much in Public opinion. Hoping sincerely that your Honor will escape sickness, I have the honor to be Sir, Your most obt. st., Geo. Thos. Fannin
