Letter from A. Wyatt, dated 4th. February 1850. My dear Sir, Many thanks for your very interesting letter. The only thing I am sorry for is, that I have it not in my power to allow anything to the Native Chief who Fabey to surrender; in-asmuch as Mr. King wrote to me that the Deserter had surrendered himself. A copy of this letter was transmitted to Wellington; and the original will have to be appended to the Court Martial. Your private letter being put in contradistinction to an Official, will not, I fear, be of any benefit to the native. I have sent in an extract of it to Wellington. We are all as dull as ditch-water here; no fashionable arrivale; no marriages; nothing. Is Sir. G.G. (or S.S.) coming to Wanganui? He threatened to come. Yours truly (Signed) A. Wyatt. Wanganui 4th. February 1850.
