The successful candidate, Mr. ft Semple, is agent for the New Zealand miners, and was the original organiser of the Federation of Labour.

J. A. Nash (Nat. Govt.) ... 2.229 A. Galbraith (Labour) 1,914 E. H. Crabb (Independent.) ... 1,119 A. Buchanan (Reform) ... lot Majority for Nash ... 315 The new member, Mr. J. A. Nash, is an estate and insurance agent, and has been Mayor of Palmerston North since 1907. He was defeated by the late Mr. Buick at the 1914 election.
