MATAMATA RACING CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Mataroata ■Racing Club takes place at Matara:ita tomorrow, and given fine weather there should be a large attendance of the =p -rtjng public. The officers of the Club h«.ve .eft no stone unturned as far as appointments for the meeting are concerned, having provided an excellent track for the horses competing, and every comfort for the public. Judging by the response of the owners in the various event-, the Club's handkapper (Mr J. Dalgleish) has done his work well, and the smallest field figuring on the card numbers sever, and a fi Id of has criel consent in the Flying Mr Chas, O'Connor, the wellknown starter, will widd the starter's fl>g, and in his hands the owners and jockeys will feel confident of fair play. Mr J. McCaw will fill the responsible position as judge. Bookrjakers will be allowed to ply their calling on the payment of a license of £1 Is, so that those of a speculative turn of mind will be accommodated.
