Also, that on the afternoon of the Dtli the enemy's powder magazine south of Potynslian exploded, causing a great conflagration for over two hours.
On Hie same day, the heavy guns were worked effectively on the Russian ships, including the Poltava, which raised a thick smoke, lasting an hour.
The report slates that the siego of Sungshusan and the forts to the east are continuing day and night. On the lib the Japanese captured two quicklirers on the caponiore of Urlungshan. On the 6th the heavy guns renew, ed the bombardment on the ships with satisfactory results, and it is still continuing.

The heavy fire from Metro Hill compelled the evacuation of the Akasaka Hill fort, which is now occupied by the Japanese, who have also occupied two additional heightß. The battleship Poltava is sunk, the cruiser Ihyan is aground, and the battleship Retvisan is seriously damaged and listing heavily.

The Daily Express's St. Petersburg correspondent reports that under a clause in the Anglo Japaneso treaty Britain at tho beginning of the war warned Russia that eho intended to uphold the treaties preventing the passage of the Black Sea fleet through the Dardanelles.
