A Veteran Miner By Telegraph.—Proas AssociationHkicton, this day Patbick Qoirk Camus, a well-known prospector and one of the oldost pioneers of tho Wcab Coast, died yosterday aftor* noon. About six months ago he was soized with paralysis, and had remained in « Berai-,unconsciou9 condition in (ho hospital till a few days aj;o. He was 74 years of ape. Tlio deceased had a ttftfe chequered and evontful eavoer, Ho i\s. covorcd and opened up tho first reof on. the coast in Moonlight district, and also erected the first battery. Ho likewise discovered tho first reef in Oapleston, which was named after him, Several plaoes in Otago, whore ho prospected extensively in the early days, still bear his ' name.
