THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD i

At a meeting of the Thames Drainage Board Mr, J, M, Lennox (chairman) expressed H? regret at the reply received from the Minister for Mines to the application of the Board for assistanoo from the Government, This appication had been made on the ground that a%erious loss of income had occurred owing to the Thames Hauraki Company's mine being now held by the Government, and paying no contribution and a grant of £IOOO, as asked for, woi 11 have greatly assisted the Board's operations, Although the Minister for Mines had replied by stating that no funds wore available for this purpose, still ho (the chairman) thought anotner application should be madt, impressing on the Minister for Mines the urgent need there was at tho present timo for the assistance asked for, He moved, ''That the Auckland members of the Board be instructed to di w up a requisition to the Government, asking that the matter bo reconsiderod," This was carried. Tho report of iho manager was read, showing the working exppnses for the month to hsvo beon £s3 9s 6d, The report was sdoptod. The chairman moved " That the Board's engineer bo asked to confer with T. A, Dunlop aj to the condition and capabilities of tho Thames Hauraki pump, and the cost per month of working the same, as compared wi'h the pump now in nso by the Board," i'his was catried.
