To?day a deputation rejiresenting 'the rotailcrs^of the city waited on the Mayor and- urged that the weekly half-holiday should not be changed from Thursday to Saturday. They said that the agitation in favour of Saturday closing did not represent the opinion of the public, and thatthe change would involve serious loss to* the retailers." • ' , The Mayor promised to look closely into the matter, and to take 'care that both 1 sides of this very important question were placed before the conference.
