May 7. It is stated that the Hon R. Oliver resigns the portfolio of Public Works. The reason given is alleged pressure of private business, caused by the drowning of his nephew in the Tararua. May 7. Parliament further prorogued until 2 o'clock in the afternoon, June 9th. (per united press association).
