(reuter's telegrams.) LONDON. May 5. Consols remain at 101 §, The total reserve of notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £15,800,000. The bank rate of discount remains at 1\ per cent. The market rate has been reduced to 2£ per cent. 5 per cent New Zealand (1889) loan quoted at 103£ ex dividend ; 5 per cent 10.40 New Zealand loan unchanged at 104£ ; and 4^ per cent (1879) 1904 New Zealand loan at 101. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, quoted at 4Ss ; New Zealand wheat, 445 ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, remains at 335. Best beef tallow 34s \ best mutton 365. There is a fair demand for most descriptions of Australian hides. L Tho Irish members, out of revenge for the arrest of Mr Dillon, are abstaining from taking part in all party divisions in the House of Commons on the Irish Land Bill, which is now under consideration. Mr Parnell has given notice in the House of Commons of a motion for the rejection of the Irish Land Bill. In both Houses of Parliament to-day motions were passed conveying a vote of thanks to the officers and men of the British army engaged in Afghanistan and Transvaal for their gallant conduct during the campaigns in those countiies.
