At the Eketahuna Police Court, on.Friday, before-Messrs F. C. Tumor and J. A. Has-

well, J's.P., .James J. ¥!ynn and Edward ] Adams, employes in tho railway ballast gang, and who were boarding at tho Railway Hotel, wore charged with u on the 14th day of June, 1906, at' the Railway Hotel, Eketahuna, having stolen one overcoat, oho' cap, and one pair of gloves, of tho value of £1 10s, the property of Frank. T. Herbert, and one overcoat, one silk muffler, and three blank cheques; of the value of £2 2s 3d, tho property of George L. Bartlctt. E. Adams pleaded guilty and J; A. Flynn not guilty. It was elicited from the evidence that the Poultry Association wero having a dinner at the Railway Hotel, and when tho dinner terminated the articles were found to bo missing. Some of tho articles were found in Adams' room, under his swag, and a cap and coat in the possession of Flynn, who said that he had taken tho hat oil'- tho hook by mistake. The property was produced in Court. The owners recognised the property. Mr J. Thomasen, farmer, deposed that he saw two men come from the direction of the bar and take the property, after trying on two hats and putting them back. The prisoners were tho men. He mentioned what he had seen. Other evidence was called as to finding the property in the accused's room. The accused elected to be dealt with summarily, and were each sentenced lo three months' imprisonment, with hard labour.
