Friday, Feb 18. (Before D. Macfarlane, Eeq, H.M) Ihe Queen v. St George G.M. Coy (Greymouth) claim, ±5 15s, stamp duty on a transfer of mining property, with penalty £5 15s. Mr Park appeared for the Stamp Department and called Victor Gracb Day, Deputy Commissienei* of Stamps, Hokitika, produced a transfer from W. J. Sutherland to the Bt George G.M. Coy which was tendered for registration in June 1898, the consideration money only requiring a fee of Is. On searching the register of mining companies he fouod the holding was E6OO shares with a face value of 10s on which the stamp duty would be £5 15s, Notice had been sent and not responded to. Judgment for amount claimed with costs £1 15s 6d. C. W. Henry v. John Schiest, claim £1 12s 6d. Mr Lewis appeared for plaintiff. Judgment by default for amount claimed with costs, ss. A. Shannon v S. Osborne, claim £2 7s. Mr Lewis for plaintiff. Judgment by default for amount claimed with costs, 10s The Court then closed.
