The Board met at 12.20 p.m. Present — The Chairman (Mr- M'Whirter), Messrs J.F. Byrne, Bruce, Staines and Cum ming. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confii mcd and the outward correspondence approved.

From Treasurer, reporting receipts £206 2s 2d ; payments, £181 4 a3d ; Bank credit balance, £122 lid .—Received. From Totara Hospital Committee, forwarding accounts, £48 15s 8d ; remitting old age psnßion collections, £6 Ss ; voluntary contributions, £10, and enclosing Su;\. .y.'i Superintendent's report ;

the ticket •jjsUui-auJ asking ihe Board to frame by-JL "3 conferring larger powers of contr.i 01 the Committee. Received. — Mr Bi \: 3aid the Committee wished to increaae their subscriptions and issue tickets ; they desired to have the power, if necessary, of refusing admission
excepting to ticket-holdera. — The Chair-
man suggested the appointment of a committee to frame the by-laws. Hr
thought a practice similar to that
obtaining in the Hokitika district with regard to the district committees be given effect to. — Mr Staines concurred with this view, and described the method adopted by tha district committees with regard to the Westland Hospital . — It waa resolved that a committee, consisting of the Chairman, Messrs Staines and J F. Byrne be appointed.
From Surgeon Superintendent, Ross Hospital, reporting:— Admissions, nil; discharges, nil ; remaining in the ho-.pital, 7 ; general condition very satisfactory. Received.
From Ross Borough Council, remitting £6 Is 8d. — Received.
FromKuraara Committee, forwarding accounts and making charitable aid recommendations with police report; also enclosing applications for relief from W. Blazance, and F. Blackney, and Mrs G. Bergiatrom — Received. — With regard to Louisich's matter the Chairman said he saw Louieich earning a good deal of money in Wellington, He moved that the matter of the Louisich family be left in his hands. — Motion agreed to.— lt was resolved that a grant of £1 be made to Mrs Bergistrom and her case be referred back to the committee. — A temporary grant of £2 for two mouths was made to W Blazancu and F. Blaokney. The other charitable aid recommendations were approved.
From W. H. Harris, Haast Beach, with reference to T» Giles and enclosing account for balance due prior to his receiving old age pension.— Received.
From M. Donovan, Constable, Ahaura, enclosing receipt for his expenses in connection with recent proceedings. — Re ceived. Correspondence in reference to R. J. Guy was received from the Canterbury Board, no information being obtainable as to his whereabouts. From Grey River hospital trustees, again forwarding account for maintenance against G. S. Dyer, Ofcira, and stating from enquiries they were satisfied Dyer was unable to pay. — Received. From Secretary Grey Charitable Aid Board, stating the request for a Oonfer«nce would be laid before the Board at their meeting on August 15th. —Received. From Audit Department, forwarding audited balance sheet. — Received. From the Finance Committee, recom" mending payment of accounts amounting to £280 5s Sd. — Received and passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
