Tuesday, Aug. 18th. A meeting of the Committee was held at Kanieri on the above date. There was a full attendance of members, Mr Cumming occupying the chair. After transacting routine business the following resolutions were agreed to :—- (1.) Again urging Government tojintroduce immediate legislation so as to give security of tenure to bona fide settlers, > nnder sec. 219 of the Land Act. (2.) Asking the Land Board to support this request. (3) Advocating the further expenditure of a sum of money on the Whitcombe Valley Pass. (4) Approving of the provisions of the proposed •' Noxious Weeds Act," and 14 Rating on Unimproved Values Act." (5) Urging the immadiate necessity of amending the Fencing Act. (6) Communicating with the Department of Agriculture re obtaining a j sample of ribbed grass and whether any of the State farms would dispose of a two year old short-horn bull. Collectors of subscriptions were appointed and a ploughing match arranged to be held at Kokatahi on or about Sept. 23rd provided the necessary funds are collected. Some other unimportant business having been transacted the meeting adjourned.
