SANDON OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION.

FIFTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING

The fifteenth annual meeting of the Kandon Old Boys' Association was held ill the Council Chambers on Friday evening. Mr W. J. Croueher presided over a good attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet submitted showed that the work of the Association during the year had been chiefly centred in the annual effort in raising money for the purchasing of tobacco for old boys and local men on active service. 'The sum of £113 13s. 2d. wm collected during the year, wtiich enabled the Association to forward three consignments of tobacco and cigarettes tp old bows and local men abroad until the signing of the armtistice. During: the year three old boys vvere killed in action* namely, Allen Harris, Norman Cox and Walter Gibbs. Ray Harris died in New Zealand from the effects of wounds received on the battlefield. It was also with regret that the demise of Mrs H. Marsh, of Napier, Clarence Anderson of Wellington; and James 80. water, of Kaetihi, had to be placed on record. As far as the secretary was able to ascertain, 73 old boys and one girl pupil of. the Sandon School had left with the various reinforcements. Military medajs had been gained by Roy Blftke and Frank Jenkins, while 21 old boys had made the supreme sacrifice. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £36 16s. 2d. A vote of sympathy was passed to the. relatives of those who had suffered bereavement during the war. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. President, Mr G. Williams; vice-pre-sidents, M. Head, W. Leat. B. Mclntyre, Ray Masters, Clarence Healey, Frank •Jenkins, Cecil Brookie, Ernest Thompson and Marshall Neil (are still on active service); executive, F. Read, W. J. Croueher, H. J. Fagan. J. Masters, J. Anderson, P. Bowater, H. Thompson, It. T. Sanson, W. J. Phillips, A. E. Eglinton, W. E. Pearce, W. S. Hammond, J. Cockburn, J. McNab, J. M. Crou-cher and Fred Lumsden. Secretary and treasurer, A. E. Penny. it was resolved " That a Re-Union and Welcome Home Social and dance to old pupils and local men be held on Friday, June 20th." Ib was resolved also that an Honour Board bo placed in the Sarison School bearing tho names of all old pupils who went on active service. Messrs W. S. Hammond, W. J. Croueher and J. Masters were appointed to make inquiries as to the most suitable tablet, and report at the next meeting. It was decided to meet again on Saturday next, the I.oth insfc.
