Mrs E. Suisted left by mail train for Wellington yesterday. Mrs Didsbury, of Pohangina, is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. V. Hammond.
Miss Stacey (A. 11.) is visiting friends in Wanganui.
Mrs Burton Clements, of Grisborive, is visiting relatives in Wanganui.
The arrival of Miss Adela Pankhurst jn Sydney was responsible for quite a sensation, and several gnoups of women wearing the purple, green and white suffrage badge were to be seen. Shortly after the train steamed in, the news of Adela Pankhurst's ari*ival spread like wildfire, and there was a rush to the platform by the curious crowd of onlookers, jand "the dainty little suffragette and her secretary, Miss. Johns, had to run ifebe gamuii of the public gaz© as they were escorted to tliieir cab by the Australian sympathisers.
Miss Melville, one of New Zealand's few women lawyers, shores the distinction of 'being one of the two women "city" councillors in New Zealand, the other being Dr Edith Huntley, of Miramar. Miss Melville is at present staying at Oaulfield House, having been appointed one of the Auckland delegates to the Municipal Conference, which takes place here during the week.
