WANGANUI MATTERS.
In reply to Mr Veitch, Mr Rhodes to-day, said it was intended to invite tenders at an early date for the Wanganui river mail service- which expires on March 31 next.
Mr Henries informed 'Mr Yeitcih. that investigations are being made as to the possibility of re-timing the train- services, but no intimation can be given as to the probable, results of the investigations, until] the final review lias been made.
As to a trial survey of the proposed Raetihi-Wiangamii railway,:: Mr Fraeer replied that there is no engineer available at present for this work, but it is hoped that the survey can be undertaken early next year.
Mr Veitch. said that Wanganjui was badly served by the train services. He also complained of the delay in regard to the survey of the Raetihi railway, which has been ipromised: as fair back ms the time when Mr Hall Jones was Minister for Works.
