SOLDIER'S DEATH
A SAD END. A soldier, named Alfred Thos. Hunter, employed in demobilisation work at the Featheraton -Camp, met with a sad end on Tuesday night. The man called at the Tauherenikau Hotel at about 10 o'clock and asked for a bed. A woman employee told him that the proprietor refused beds to soldiers, and ho subsequently left by the firo escape. In tho morning the same employee noticed someone lying at tho foot of tho fire escape, and immediately acquainted tho pro-prietor,-who rang up the polico. It was found that the man had broken his neck, and it is assumed that he fell down tho lire escape. The medical and other evidence wont to show that the deceased, who was 29 years of age, had not been imbibing in liquor. An inquest was held yesterday by Mr E. <x. Eton, District Coroner, when a verdict of accidental death was returned.
