MEETING OF STEWARDS. dfe A meeting of stewards of the W Mastertan Racing Club was held ™ yesterday afternoon, there being present Messrs J. lorns (chairman), A. J. Welch, W. Cooper, D. MoLaohlan, H. P. Harrison, C. J. Bennett, D. B. Carrick, F. • Jensen, H. Douglas, and W.'D. Watson. The Stamp Office wrote asking for returns of Amusement Tax in connection with the recent racemeeting.—The Secretary stated that the return had been delayed vowidg to a demand for a tax on members.—-It was decided to iconsult the Club's solicitor in xespect to the matter, and to deal with it at the next meeting. Afe N. H. Campbell wrote applyfor a jockey's license.. The Secretary reported what steps he had taken to substantiate particulars furnished by Campbell, and that the matter was now being dealt with by the Wellington Racing Club. H. Lohrman wrote in reference to beautifying racecourses. —Received. A circular letter was received from the N. Z. Sports Protection League in reference to railway facilities for racing.
