The Manawatu Herald, says it is whispered that Mr J. C. Wilson is to be called to the Upper House.

A Christchurch telegram states that Dean Harper, tho fourteenth son of the late Bishop Harper, who has been Dean of Christchurch urnce 1901, has resigned on ' the ground of ill health.

The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth (Right Hon. Andrew Fisher) has cabled the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher that he will not be able to visit New Zealand this month, as be had intended.

Another pioneer .settler of- the Wairarapa, in the person of Mr James Stevens, passed away at Belvedere on Tuesday morning, at "the great age of :iiinety-three years.

The manv friends of Miss fclsitf Black", of the well' known Musical Black Family of New Zealand, will be pleased to learn that she is at present in the Dominion, under engagement to J. O. Williamson's, ttd., as flautist in the new comic opera co., which wiH appear in Masterton shortly. ._
