MOUNT BENGER PLOUGHING MATCH.
The Mount Benger Annual Ploughing Match was held on Friday, the 16th inst., in a paddock belouging to Mr. Michael McCarthy, at Dumbarton Rock, Moa Flat. The weather was good, and the attendance large. Each man's allotment was completed within three hours of the time they started. The judges were— Messrs. A. Oarlaw, James Bennett, and Thomas Cornish, whose decision in every case gave entire satisfaction. A dinner was held in the evening, at which the party enjoyed themselves immensely. The following is the prize-list, as also the awards :—: — Single-fubbow Ploughs. — Ist Prize, £4: R. Macintosh ; 2nd, £3 :W. WeßCott ; 3rd, £2: M. M'Carthy. Doublb-fttbbow Ploughs. — let Prize, £4: E. Tubman ; 2nd, £2 : C. Holmes. Special Phizes. — Best finish : A set of swingletrees, the gift of Mr. A. Buchan — A. M'Gregor. Best groomed horses : A riding bridle, the gift of Mr. John Beighton — Colin Holmes. First ground ploughed : Riding whip, the gift of Mr. John Reid — Collin Holmes.
