Admirers of the Hebrew character will doubtless welcome the ne.w play, "Potash and Perlmutter," to ba presented by J. O. William ion at ths Theatre Royal on Monday next, nut. only for its diverting as well as Jt=i human qualities, but also it should pro re a healthy antidote to the I Jew ordinarily seen on the stage. It • is said that the character drawing in " Pota h and Perlmutter" is entirely frc-Q from exasperation and that it never descends to the The author, Montague Gla;s, is himself a Jew and has fashioned his characters from living models. Hence it eonves about that in every conceivable situation where Jewish characteristics, real or traditional, could be utilised to create laughter it lias been utiised. It is claimed that nub of the attractions of rhe play is the sincerity of its heart interest, the affecting nature of its sub-plot, the true not* of fboling when comedy for the moment gj'/es place to drama. The principal parts m the production will be played by artists who appeared in the production in I\ew York.
