[Fkom Oun Correspondent.] DTTNTSDIN, July 14. Palmerston South settlers are petitioning the Government to acquire the Meadow-bank estate of 10,000 acres for close settlement at the expiry of the present lea6e. The acquirement of the Mount Royal estate is also being petitioned for.
The Otago teachers presented Mr Jeffery with a gold watclli in recognition of his efforts for the teachers' superannuation scheme.
