CURE OF LEPROSY.

/ ♦ STARTLING ANNOUNCEMENT.

Two women and a boy, who for years past have been suffering from leprosy, have been discharged as cured from the State Lepers' Home at Indian Camp, Iberville parish, Louisiana. This announcement was made by Doctors leidor Dyer and Ralph Hopkins, physicians in attendance at the State Home. The patients, who requested that their names should be kept, private, are thirty, fifty arid thirteen* years old respectively. They are said to have entirely recovered, although they had been victims' to the disease for years. According to the statement of the doctors, there is no" doubt that they are permanently and positively cured. The home from which they have been discharged has, at the present time, nearly fifty patients, eight of whom have been so much helped by* the treatment they have received there that they, too, are in a fair way to recovery. To hygienic measures and to certain drugs^ consisting of ichthyol, chlorate of potash, strychnine, salicylate of soda and Chaulmoogra oil these cures are attributed. All the newspapers give great prominence to the cures, but most people, says the New York correspondent of the "Telegraph," are rather sceptical. For years in America " absolute cures " for cancer, consumption and ot<b.er»,diseases have been announced with an equal show of veracity, but later on proved delusive.
