The takings > at last week's show totalled £744, being an increase of £172 over last year. . 7 '■■-■<■■' With regard to the proposal made at the annual meeting of the Otago ; Agricultural and pastoral Society, by^ Mr Fergus, to offer a, trophy of the value of £100, with the • object of inducing competition in the county bays, the necessary sum has been fully subscribed, and it is hoped that, with the inducement offering, some of the northern counties may come forward and' compete with the Otago counties. The accommodation provided I* u* week was inadequate for the Winter Show, and fi&e Booiety, therefore, proposes to enlarge it by adding another storey to tbe A^ricul--1 tural Hall building.
