The Rotomahana in her last trip from Lyttelton io Wellington covered the distance in Hhr 26min. - The s.s. Wakaiu was put on the Wellington slip on Saturday for cleaning and- painting. The s.s. Ocrnwall arrived froni Sydney, via "Wellington, at 11.20 a.m. to-day. .' Captain M'Dougall is a-t- present in command of the s.s. Ccrinna, Captain . Millman baing absent on ; account of the recent death of his son -by drowning at Wellington. • The s.s. Petone went into clack for cleaning and painting this mornirg. The New Zealand Shipping Company'-, s.s. P*a*?pebu.is tb leave for the soirth oc Tuesday next. From time to time (says the Wellington "Pout") there bas been complaint in shipping circles owing tjo steamers ,' having been delayed at South African ports. Now, it seems that things have improved. The New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the Otarar-j arrived at Durban on Jari. 22, and after discharge proceeded to Cape Town, where she arrived on Jan. 25. She sailed again on Jan. 29. for Loncbn. It w%s, therefore, only seven days from the time of 'arrival at Durban un'lil her departure from Cape Town. Among shipping people this is considered a very quick despatch." ..*
