. / LONDON, Feb. 3. Brierre, the man who was sentenced to death at Chartres for the murder of five children, -has had his sentence commuted to. penal servitude for life. Many people felt that the presiding Judge was -unfairy while dther petitioners emphasised the absence of a confession.
