AN ANGRY PREMIER.

(Received Feb. 4, 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, Feb. 4. The Premier has issued a manifesto for

the general election. He asserts that- the actions of the Commonwealth towards nearly every State have so bitterly disappointed the advocates of nnion that perhaps .most of them would be glad to see the Union dissolved. He points out *he necessity for the State Governments to keep intact the powers secured to them, to resist all attempts to abridge them, and to refuse any invitation of the Federal Government to surrender the least of them.

Referring to the status of the Premiers at »the Coronation, he declares that he would refuse to accept; conditions . which really amount to going under Mr Barton's patronage. He would sooner go under Mr Seddon's patronage. He differs from Mr See because he can see no reason why Mr Seddon should not get a special invitation. He believes that Mr Seddon, from what ho has done for the Mother Country, is more- entitled to special recognition than Mr Barton.
