PHONE, i
D r Sylvestre, an American physician, who is, however, a naturalised Frenchman," has invented, according to the " Independence Beige," a spectrograph which enables a pe-son using a telephone to see the individual to whom -he is speaking, and even the room in which his message is being received.
Conclusive experiments, it is stated, have been made by Dr Sylvestre in the presence of M. Mougeot, the French Under-Secretary of Posts and Telegraphs.
King Leopold has granted Dr Sylvestre a special audience for the purpose "of being shown the invention. The instrument can be adapted to an ordinary telegraphic wire.
