CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION.
A monthly general meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union was held yesterday evening, at the Clarendon Hotel; present —Messrs J. C. Adams (chairman), J. U. Collins, T. M. Buntin, H. Frost, F. T. Evans, W. Walton, W. G. Garrard (honorary secretary) and F. E. Asquith (honorary treasurer). A telegram and a letter from the honorary Secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union, stating that the English Union had reversed the decision of the Appeal Committee of the New Zealand Union regarding the disputed try in the last Otago match, were read. It was resolved to apply to the New Zealand Union for copies of all documents bearing on the case. Permission was granted to the Sydenham Club to play Melrose at Easter, and to the Christchurch Club to play the Wellington Club at the same time. Mr George Harris wrote regretting that he would, be unable to accept the position of vice-president. The East Christclmrch Club wrote regarding a claim against the Union for _81, and it was agreed to let the question stand over for fuller particulars. The Kaiapoi Club asked for further expenses in connection with the iutorprovincial fixtures last year, but it was decided to let the matter stand in abeyance for the present. The Secretary read a letter from the Sydenham Borough Council with reference to the use.of Sydenham Park, and this matter was also ordered to stand over. It was agreed that entries for* all competitions must be forwarded to the Secretary by Monday, April 5. Messrs Garrard, Frost and M'Namara were appointed a. Postponement Committee, and Messrs Garrard, Buntin and Walton a Permitt Committee. The Secretary was instructed to write to the management of the Lancaster Park Company, asking for better terms during the incoming season. The sum of _810 was voted from the Union's funds to the Secretary and Treasurer for the valuable services they had rendered the Union last season.
