HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
An ordinary mooting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at 4 p.m. yesterday, at the Hospital; present — His Worship the Mayor of Ohristchurch, Drs Turnbull and Prins, and Mr Hawkes. The Mayor'of Christchurch was voted to the chair. ■HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. The following was read:—"The Hospital Committee has the honour to report that during the fortnight ending May 27, 15 patients wore admitted into the Hospital and 15 disoh&rged, leaving :76 patients in the institution. During the same period there was one death. For the corresponding period of list year exactly the same number of patients were in Hospital." The report woe received. ■ GOBBBSrONDBUOE. The following was read :■— From the Colonial Secretary, stating that the Government will be prepared to make a grant of £ for£ on the proceeds of the • concert given by the Dunedin Private Motett and Glee Society in aid of the funds of the Destitute Patients' Fund, upon application being made in the uiual mannner. The letter was received, members expressing their gratification at its favourable character. MISOBLXANBOTJa. Two applications for the position of dispenser to the Hospital rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Hawkoa, were received. They wore not considered however, and the Secretary was instructed to advertise for ' applications to be sent in ; the matter to be'brought beforo the Board.at its next meeting. An account, amounting to £100, for repairs to the Hospital, was appioved. Tho tiecrotary laid on the table a report on the management of the Wellington Hospital. It was reported that there was only ono : patient in the Akaroa Hospital, none in the Oaßual Wt>rd, aud 33 inmates in the Ashburton Home. An application from South Malvern to allow some children, whose father was alive, to be .admitted to the Orphanage, was referred to the Charitable Aid Committee. The Secretary stated that no answer had been reoeived from Government, re the Lyttelton - Orphanage correspondence forwarded by the Board. STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS. The Secretary submitted a statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending March 31, which he had prepared in the event . of the Government requiring such a statement to be forwarded to Wellington, as was usually the case during the Bitting of Parliament.
