LONDON, Sept. 8. News from Afghanistan states that Cavagnari fell gallantly in defending the Residency, the staff and all the members of the household sharing the same fate. Nine sowars escaped. There is intense emotion throughout India, and a re-invasion is promptly proceeding, and it is demanded that Cabul shall be dismantled as a punishment for the massacre.
