PORT ALBERT.

A meeting of the Port Albert Baud of Hope took place in the VVesieyan Church on Sept. 6th. The weather was beautiful, and there was a very fair attendance. Mr Hunt took the chair, and after the opening hymn was sung, the chairman made a short Bpeech. Little Olive Gubb gave a recitation called ' The Little Sunbeam ' ; Harry Walker, song, ' The Eustic Bridge ' ; Miss Hartnell, recitation called ' Kind Words ' ; Lucy Brokenshire, recitation, 'My Dolly'; Mr B. M. Gubb, • Lesson on Temperance ' ; Mr Geo. Dudding, song, ' Think before you speak ' ; Edwin Gubb, recitation, ' Lazy Jack ' ; Mr P. Becroft, reading, ' The plea for oatmeal water'; Mr Judd, a short speech; Miss A. Gubb, temperance recnation ; Miss Steventon, ' A mother and her babe.' Mr French gave an amusing little speech, and a temperance song brought a lengthy and interesting programme to a close.. The meeting of ihe Mutual Improvement Society took place on Saturday evening, . Sept. 10th. There was a fair attendance. The following was the programme gone through: Song, Mr C. Walker; recitation, Mr C. Judd ; song, Miss Coubrough ; reading, Mr R. Walker; reading, Miss Steventon; recitation, Mr Bridge; song, Mr R. A. Partington. The meeting closed at 915 p.m... The W.C. Wentwonh ii loading timber at Bradley and Co.'s Mill, and will be ready to sail in about two weeks . . Our footballers arc to play a match with the Mangawai Club on Saturday.
