At a meeting of the Harbour Board Mr Fletcher, chairman, said a proposal was put forward at a conference of the Harbour Bio&rd chairman and the Premier that in each of the four principal ports a commission should be appointed to control all waterside labour and determine the total amount
of casual labour roqudred hxnai month to month during each season of the ycm and employ hrcds at a nunimuna •weekly was:e. Waterside labour to be engaged from. the Coanmissioci, but no outside casual laibooir to be engagjed until the panel is eachausted.
The chairman and'two other members of tho Board were deputed to further confer with the Premier and other representatives on the maiftor*.
