On being interviewed to-day Sir R. Stout ssid the result of the election was what he bad precic* d from the first — that the women's vote would be Democratic , secondly that women would not declare agt ;nst the e-^culst syst3nvof eduoition ; and thirdly, that women would declere for the Direct Veto. He sHd 'he majority pf the new Parliament have pronounced emphaiics'ly ag. inst the Alcoholic Liquors Ssie Control Act of last s^sion, and the p.in'iple of rhe Direct Vcio must face the olternative of coalition with the Opposition. Direct Veto supporters are ;ot down at 44 for the North I?laad pad 16 for the South Island.
