COLLECTION FOR RED (ROSS SOCIETY.

A special mooting of the Tinuiru Ministers' Association was hold on Wednesday afternoon to consider a request from the Mayor that tho proposed collection for Red Cross purposes on Anzae Day he abandoned. The President explained that the flavor had seen him and expressed the opinion that, in view of the frequent appeals made to the people, there should lie no collection on Anzae. Day. The .Mayor had also stated his conviction that the takinsr of a collection would militate airainst the service. Consequently he made the request as Mayor that there he no collection. After a full discussion the following resolution was agreed to: —'"That in view of our unanimous agreement on the subject, the consensus of opinion on the part of many representative citizens whom we have, consul tod, and the preparations already made, we respectfully hep: the Mayor to reconsider the request lie has made to us that there be no offertory during the religious service on An/.ao Day." A icply having been received from the Mayor in which he still adhered to his original request and made further representations on the suhject, a meeting "f the Ministers' Association was held last evening, when the following resolution was adopted: —"That in deicrcnce to the request of the Mayor we abandon the idea of taking up a. collection for lied Cross purposes at. the open-air united service on Anzae Dav."
