Mr E. A. LeCren, North Street, has been approached, and has consented to nomination for a seat on the Borough Council. Mr Geo. Dash, who since October 1910-has represented "W'aimate Eoroigh on the Timaru High School Board, is r.->t seeking re-election when W'aimate fills its vacancy for this and other of fie res this month. Increasing calls upon his time in other offices led to this decision.
A Christehurch Press message rejoris tho death, of Dr C. J. Russell, aged S3 years. Deceased took a great interest in educational matters, and was an exmember of the Education Board. Death was the resulo of a chill.
On behalf of the residents of AVoodbtiry district. Messrs Luck. Reynolds and McGowan waited on Mrs Tom lin aiid Miss Parker, postmistress and telephonist respectively, and on the occasion of their relinquishing their duties, made a. presentation to each. Fit-ting-reference was niado to the faithful and courteous services rendered to the public by both the recipients, and the heartiest good wishes for a happy future were expressed to Miss Parker on the evo of her marriage. The presentations cons : sted of a Kaiapoi travelling rug to Mrs Tomiin. and a dressing case and manicure set to Miss Parker.
