PLEASANT POINT.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
The chief social topic just now is, the Busy Bee Bazaar to be held m connection with St.Alban's Church. For several months past a committee of energetic ladies has been busily at work, with the natural result that a most excellent supply of their handiwork has been prepared ; and this, together with the large collection donated, will enable the.committee to open a very attractive bazaar on Thursday next. A largo Art* Union will be held and each ticket holder will secure a prize. Mr E. Acton, J.P., will open the bazaar. Musical selections will be given during the evening, and there will be son:e side shows.
I am at a loss to know what became of the notes I sent you last week, containing the library concert. Enquiries at your office on Saturday showed that the report never arrived, nor. did a letter containing a postal note. I reported the concert fully and regret that by some unknown circumstance, the performers had cause to think they were slighted. Although the audience • was very meagre indeed, the programme was a most- excellent one. The library qo.nvnitte^has now got, by exchange, some good books from the Waimate Institute, and great was the rush on Satuiday night for the fresh ones. ;
Mr Kerslakt: gave his annual shooting party last Friday week. Hares were very scarce, only 16 kills being effected, against 50 kills last year. Mr Alfred Kin-slake, 15 years old, was top scorer with six hares. The day- was a very enjoyable one, A heavy-, day's march caused a grand appetite for • the excellent spread at dinner, after which a social evening was spent with drafts and cards and songs. '
