THE NOMINATIONS.

(By Teeeohaph. ) AUCKLAND, Sbpt. 16. The nominations for the Bay of Islands to-day, at Russell, were John Lundon and R. Hobbs. The show of hands was in favour of Mr Hobb3 and a pull was demanded. The nominations for Waipa, received at Hamilton, were Major Jackson, and Messrs Campbell, J. Teasdale, and D. Maxwell. The show of hands was in favour of Major Jackson, and a poll was dimanded. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 16. Nominations for the New Plymouth district took place to-day, the proceedings lasting six hourß. The show of hands resulted as follows: — Samuel 30, Sniith 33, DucWiH 11. The fourth candidate, 11- Snell, retltui\ i n favour of Mr Smith. A poll was demanded NAPIEfc, Sept. IG. Messrs J. D. Ormond and J. Ivess were nominated for the Napier seat to-day. A very laree number of hands was held up for Russell, none for Desmond, who asked his supporters not to bold up their hands. Nine-tenths of those present, however, voted for Russell ; a poll was demanded. PALJIER3TON NOBTH, Sept. 16. The nominations for Manawatu were D. H. McArthurand H. G. West. The latter had the best of the show of hands. A poll was demanded. The proceedings wore pretty lively. WELLINGTON, Supr. 16. Th.9 nominations for Wellington South and suburbs were taken to-day. Messrs J. Coombs and C. B. Izard were nominated. The show of bands resulted in favour of Mr Izard. A poll was demanded. Messrs H. S. Filzherbert and Thomas Mason were nominated for the Hutt. The show of hands waa in favour of Mr Mason. A poll was demanded. BLENHEIM, Sept. 16. Messrs Henry Dodson (O.), George Henderson CO.), 8. Sutherland (I), John Macalister were nominated as candidates for the Wairau seat. A poll was demanded. The show of hands was as follows : — Dodson 54, Macalister 40, Henderson 28. MOIUEKA, Skpi. 18. The nominations for the Motueka electorate are Richmond, Hursthouse and John Kerr. CHBISTCHURCH. Sept. 16. Nominations for Christchurch North and South, and Avon took place to day at Christchurch North. The show of hands was 45 for Sir Julius Vogel, and 15 for Mr Roberts who demanded a poll. About 150 wero present at Christchurch South. Messrs W. B. Percoval, A.Ayers, H. Thomson, and E. George wero proposed ; the show of hands was largely in favour of Perceval. At tho Avon the show of hands was 80 for E. G. "Wri«ht. 76 for E. Blake. Tho proceedings wero very orderly. At Srtlwyn the shnw of hands was 94 for Sir Jhn Ball, 74 for Mr McLauchlin, who demanded a poll. At Cheviot nomination at Amberley tho show of hands waa 01 for Mr Lance and 28 for Mr Macfarlauc. A poll waa demanded. ASH BURTON, Sept. 16. Tho nominations for Aahburton were Meßsrs W. C. Walker (M.), and C. W. Purnell. A show of hands gave Walker 91, and Purnell 33. Mr Walker demanded a poll. WAITAKf, Sept., IC. Tho nominations for the Waitaki electorate took placo to-day at Puhenri. Mr T. Duncan (M.), lato member and Mr John Reid (O), were nominated. Thero was little interest oxhibitod. The show of hands was thrco for Duncan and live for R^id. A poll was demanded on behalf of Duncan. WAIlf ATE, Sept. 16. The nominations for Waimate took place to-day in the Courthouse. There was a very large attendance. Three candidates were proposed, namely : Messrs Stoward, Clarke, and Manchester. Lengthy speeches worn made by all. Mr Manchester twitted Mr Steward re tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Bill. Great interest was taken in the proceedings, a Bbow of hands resulted n» follow*. Froi>att (O), and J. G. Ward (M). The show of hands was in. favour of Ward. A poll was domanded. The Invercar^ill nominations were taken to-day. Messrs J. Hatch, J. W. Mitchell, H. Ja^ers, H. Feldwick and C. W. Tanner. A poll was demanded by Mr Hatch. Mr Mitchell announced himself to-day. For Mataura Messrs G. F. Richardson aid J. Mackintosh were nominated, and for Hokonui Mussm C. Cowan and A. Baldey.
