OHINEMURI.

[PEll PIGEON EXPRESS.] {By Our Own Correspondent.) Ohinemuhi, Friday, 5.30 p.m. The whole day has been taken up in discussing claims made by Tamati Waka and others to interests in the Moeb.au block. Te Hira did not attend to-day. Mr Mackai opened by saying that the Moehau and Waikawau blocks had been given into his Lands yesterday towards payment of the debt duo by Ngatitatuatera. He would act upon that, and leave the consideration of tho Ohinerauri block for the present. In accordance with the basisof operations laid down byhiin yesterday, it would now be necessary to ascertain what natives of other tribes had just claims to any portion of tho Moehau and Waikawau blocks He would now call upon those claiming interests in the Moebau block to speak first.

(of Ngatimaru) got up and made a claim (on behalf of himself, Tamati Waka, and others) to a large section of the block, which claim was resisted byTe Moananui and others.

The discussion lasted till nearly five o'clock, when the two parties agreed to a proposal made by Mr Mackay to the effect that the block was to be handed over to the Government, and that the amounts to be paid or credited to each party should be left to his decision, and that certain reserves should be made hereafter.

The Waikawau block has just been called on, and Pineha and others (of Ngalimaru) are making claims to certain portions. The discussion is not? going on,

The result of Mr Mackay's course of action will be that the quantity of land available in those blocks for conveyance to Government will be finally determined, the purchase money will be credited, and then the Ngatitamatera will be compelled to give up Ohinemuri to clear off the balance due. Hitherto they have spoken in vague terms of blocks, now it will come to a question of how many acres they really have to give the Government in those blocks, and theu find means of paying their debt, which, of course, means opening Ohinemuri. The progress made is slow, but sure. The ' Buona Ventura' arrived at 4.45 piin. ' $
