NOTICE is hereby given that the ASSESS- _ MENT LIST of the Parawai Highway District for the year ending 30th June, 1875, has been FINALLY SETTLED, and that the Bate Book may be inspected at the Office of the Board, corner of Banks and Augustus streets, which ia also the place specified for payment of the rate by persus liable to pay the same. Every such rate shall be deemed and taken to have been made on the day on which notice of the final settlement of the assessment list shall be published in the Provincial Government Gazette as aforesaid. Section 48 Every rate made under this Act shall be payable at the place appointed by the notice of final settlement as aforesaid and if any person rated under the provisions of this Act shall fail to pay any rate due from him for the space of fourteen days after the same has been made if such person reside within the District or after the space of Uenty-eight days after the same has been made if be shall reside outside the district the collector duly authorised in that behalf may recover such rates from the person so making default by action or other appropriate proceedings in any Court civil jurisdiction to the amount claimed. Mr Vernon, Collector for the Board, will be . in attendance at the office, as above, at the hours of from 4 to 6 o'clock on each Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday during the present month.
