Thames Advertiser Office, Friday Evening. Mr Edwin Binney reports: — Eusinet 8 shows no sign of animation, and transactions are of the most ordinary character, demand only existing for actual daily requirements. The produce market remains in a very unsatisfactory condition, the rates at present ruling leave no margin to importers. Maize, ex ' Drover,' was placed in small lots at 5s 9d, at which price, according to Sydney quotations, cannot have recouped the shipper. Oats remain firm, at last week's prices, viz. 6s, but are only in demand for seed purposes. Barley is in moderate request, at 5s 6d to 5s 9d. Bran ; Is 9(1 to 2s, short supply. Pol'ard, £10 per ton. Potatoes rule very high, moving offiu lots at £10 10s to ill; the shipment now in the market are very superior, and pay the retail trade better than any lately sold, as there is comparatively no waste. Flour shows a better tone, although it is difficult to move parcels; bakers' lots move off more freely, at last week's rates; Adelaide town brands£lß; Southern, best brands, sacks, £14 10s, 100's andSO's, £15 to £15 10s; second qualities 20s to 30s per ton lower. No line of Southern produce can be placed at present prices, to pay importers. Hams, bicon, and cheese are quoted in Christehurch at the same figure purchasers wish to buy at here. The 'Mikado' put in her appearance early this morning. She brings but a small cargo, aud about 50 passengers, which may be accounted for by the uncertain movements of the A , and A.M.S. Company's boats. She has made the most successful run and the most punctual since the line was established, and comes to Auckland on account of her owners.
