SOUTHERN TELEGRAMS.
(Per Anglo-Australian Telegraph Press Agency.)
Wellington, Monday.
Arrived: ' Conflict,' from London, with over 400 immigrants, all well; ninety days out.
It is said that a deputation of Nelson members waited on Saturday on the Minister of Works regarding the construction of a railway between Foxhill and the West Coast, and that the result was not satisfactory to the deputation, as the estimated cost is fixed at £8,000 per mile. The Times suggests that another line might be found from Foxhill to Tophouse, and by way of Tarndale into Amurj and Canterbury. A survey of the line is likely to be made.
