• Wellington, Friday. • Alexander Macdonald, who has often' been mixed up with Maori disturbances in Manawatu, being- au adopted member of a tribe, yesterday deliberately shot one of the leaders in Young's Napier Coach in assertion of a right to some land over which the road runs, —The ship 'Golden Sea,' with2B6 immir grants, has arrived, and been taken into quarantine. The cause is unknown, there having been no com munication with her yet. •

8 p.m. Tho ship 'Golden Sea' has been quarantined in .consequence of 11 deaths having occurred through scarlatina among children. There is no sickness now. The detention will be short.
