Lieutenant Scott arrived by the mail train on Saturday night on a short visit to New Plymouth. He leaves with the Sixth Reinforcements. In a letter of condolence to Mr. Dustin, of Wanganui, on the death of the latter’s son at Gallipoli, Lieutenant Frank Turnbull says that he himself “was hit the first minute we got into it and couldn’t move about much afterwards.” A Christchurch message states that Mr. G. E. Curry has been appointed by tbe stipendiary stewards’ committee of tbe New Zealand Racing Conference a stipendiary steward in place of Mr. R. O. Duncan, who resigned. Mr. Curry has been acting for a considerable time'as deputy stipendiary steward.
