Tho following advice has been received from the High Commissioner in • London, dated August 24th : — Mutton — The-market is steady, notwithstanding the fact that arrivals are increasing rapidly. "- There is a good demand for all qualities at prices quoted last week. Lamb — A good demand for light weights continues. There is only a dull sale for heavy carcases. Canterbury brands 5Jd, other than Canterbury s|d. Beef — There has been no alteration in the beef market since last week. Butter— The market -is firm for best quality. Offerings of choicest New #ea'land are v,e.ry small.' These are quoted at 106s, Danish 112s, Siberian' 106s, ' Canadian 105s. Cheese— -The market "is quiet, with a : tendency in favour ofab'tiyers. Tsere has been no change in prices since last 'Hemp-r-There is no material chahge •> 'in-. ■ the "hemp' market. Buyers- are not - keen to do business. • r Cocksfoot seed — There is no pressure to sell. Only light stocks are on hand. Prices are unchanged. The grain market is firm, with a hardening tendency.
