Wo have to acknowledge also with thanks, the receipt oi" a Provincial Gazette ol'Doceinbor last, containing a statement of accounts of the Province to June 30, 18G4, and another Gazette of next December, ropublishing a garrison ordor warning persons not to discha/ge tf rearms in the bush. HokitiKa.— We observe that Mr. Edward Pntten, formerly oi' this place, but for some years past in the C:istomß at Lyttelton, has been appointed SubCollector at Hokitiktf, the port of tho new goldfiolrls on tho West Coast of'Canterbnry. • Californian Circus.— Messrs. Greeaberg and Co.'s Circus arrived here by the Phoabe on Saturday last and opened ' on Monday evening at the back of the Masonic Hotel. They have performed every night since, exc^pfc^ Thursday, and wo need hardly say that the performances were excellent. We have not spaco this week for a detailed account of the clever feats,- &c, of Madame Tournear, Messrs. Foley, Christoff, ltaphaol, Klaer & son, and Jones, bufc we may fairly say that thoy were capitally done. A day performance for the youngsters is to commence this afternoon afc two o'clock, and a porformance will take place in the evening. As the troupe leave Taranaki on Tuesday next, those who have not seen them should lose no time. Pleuro-Pneumonia. — Ifc will be observed that the Superintendent 'has removed tho restriction upon the driving of cattle across tKe Tapuae river. JJgir We shall publish a Supplement on Monday with news of the overland expedition to Opunake, &c, if ifc is received in time. Police Court. — Nothing of interest occurred in the Court during the week, except that Michael" Donnelly was fined 10s. and costs for discharging firearms in the streets.
